Disegni a margine - semi serious reflections on the Daniel Pennac’s work
Brevidistanze is a project born in Catania in 2006 from the collaboration between Andrea Mangione and Guè (Marco Mangione). The name derives from a reflection on art, which can also be associated with the proximity of ideas and feelings that exists between two twins.
Brevidistanze investigates the associative possibilities of different expressive languages, through the formulation of installation sets that encourage a dynamic relationship with the environment that hosts them, through the use of manual techniques and digital tools, based on a reasoning that consitutes the representation of a common vision. The projects show the desire to cohabit an exhibition space, formulate a unique place for the representation of multiple visions, which tend to a whole, where Images and elements activate a process of expansion. Staging devices that offer different reading possibilities, designated places that create interactions, possible associations, new connections.
During the creation of these paintings, transformed into digital after an extendedresearch on paper, we aimed to create a relationship with the narrative of Daniel Pennac. The two artists have followed the advices and suggestions contained in his novels, approaching lightly and casually to his contents with personal insights: skiddings, transparencies, overlays, cuttings and free forms have emerged, telling about habitat and atmospheres floating in a ludic dimension.
