La misura di un orizzonte sensibile

Ritratto di Paolo Brodbeck

Curated by Gianluca Collica

This exhibition is about a collector from another era, Paolo Brodbeck, romantically and strongly tied to a vision for which the work, in its artistic value and uniqueness, is the only symbol capable of representing his love for art. Motivated by the desire to be an active part in the world of art, from experience to experience he has realized a dream that in its generosity always appears as a humble daily gesture offered to himself, his friends and the community. The random aspect of his collecting, which has no periods or languages or themes of reference, allows him to approach his own life to the most intimate and profound thing a work hides. Perhaps a collector from another era, still tied to the emotion of the gaze, to a pang in the stomach, to the intuition of a moment, to the idea of accompanying artists and gallery owners on their journey, where possible, for the simple pleasure of experiencing beauty by establishing a complicit sharing.

Who is Paolo Brodbeck

"I do not consider myself a pure collector, nor a pure patron; in me, the pleasure of living and participating in contemporary art with a true action rooted in everyday life prevails. All collectors have the physical need to live next to the works they love, to wake up in the morning and see that very painting, that sculpture, that installation.

The collection is at the center of my action in the world of art and, in a certain sense, represents the catalyst that allows me to be an active part of it. We are used to the complexity of a Michelangelo or a Leonardo, but we struggle to decipher the contemporary. Many collectors I have met in recent years work to create a fruitful dialogue between the art of yesterday and today. I think that the intimate story of this passion makes everyone understand that the encounter with art, whatever it is, passes through emotion."
