Agata on the road 2026

This edition of Agata on the Road takes on additional strategic significance, as it marks the nine hundredth anniversary of the transfer of the relics of Saint Agatha to Catania. This anniversary inspired the theme for 2026: Return Home.

 

The 2026 project takes shape through:

 

Contest

An invitation to artists to interpret the theme of Return Home as a reflection on the concept of belonging, on connections with places, and on the transformations of identity in the present;

Exhibitions

An opportunity to attract culture to the city, developed through the following exhibitions:

A group exhibition of works selected by the jury from the submissions received in the national contest;

Presentation of the work by Adriana Torregrossa, winner of the 2025 "A Year with Agata" award. On this occasion, the artist will present to the public the work she has developed over the course of the year thanks to the production, research, and curatorial support of the Fondazione OELLE Mediterraneo Antico ETS, concluding her award experience;

Awarding of the "A Year with Agata" award for the 2026 edition, to one of the artists selected in the contest, who will receive access to a year-long production and curatorial support program;

Presentation of the site-specific project "Passi" by artist Alfredo Pirri, a prominent figure in the international contemporary art scene. This initiative reinforces the appeal and overall quality of the initiative.
