Dala Nasser

The exhibition, held in the Church of San Mamiliano (Santa Cita complex) in Palermo, in dialogue with the treasures of art and faith rediscovered and returned to the city after years, presents the works of twelve artists from various cultures, generations, and geographical origins: Adalberto Abbate, Francesco Balsamo, Tony Cragg, Francesco De Grandi, Aziz Hazara, Francesco Lauretta, Urs Lüthi, Rabih Mroué, Dala Nasser, Mimmo Paladino, Hans Schabus, and Alberto Scodro. These artists, characterized by diverse expressiveness and artistic techniques, converge in the cultural, civic, and spiritual recovery of a commitment to the post-human, to oppose cultural homogenization, in the hope of recreating a new, humanized time, without which society is destined to shatter amid conflict and indifference. The exhibition marks the debut in Palermo of the Riv Foundation, a new Sicilian institution for contemporary art. The exhibition, conceived by Gianluca Collica and Patrizia Monterosso, benefits from the collaboration of a multi-faceted curatorial board that will oversee the artistic and cultural planning and production of the Riv Foundation. The board includes Cesare Biasini Selvaggi, Gianluca Collica, Emmanuel Lambion, Patrizia Monterosso, and Alberto Salvadori.

A new network for contemporary art is emerging in Sicily. The RIV Foundation will contribute to the creation of a synergistic network of foundations and cultural and social organizations, particularly those engaged in contemporary, sacred, and social art. These organizations are driven by the understanding that cultural activities also foster social cohesion and individual growth. The first concrete implementation of this cultural coalition project involves the collaboration for the Spazio Umano exhibition with the Brodbeck Foundation (Catania), the OELLE Mediterraneo Antico Foundation (Catania), and Pulcherrima Res (Palermo). During the exhibition, a program of in-depth discussions will take place with the artists involved in Spazio Umano, along with others, including Silvia Giambrone, Maria Domenica Rapicavoli, Caroline Ricca Lee, and Grace Schwindt.
