Dala Nasser
Winner of the 2022 Isola Sicilia Award

Dala Nasser is the winner of the first edition of the ISOLA SICILIA 2022 prize, a collaboration between Artissima and the Fondazione Oelle Mediterraneo Antico in Aci Castello. Nasser was chosen from among the artists represented by the galleries at the fair. The winning artist is being presented at Artissima by the Deborah Schamoni gallery in Monaco. The prize was awarded by an international jury composed of Etienne Bernard, director of FRAC Bretagne in Rennes, Stefano Collicelli Cagol, director of the Centro Pecci in Prato, and Francesca Guerisoli, director of the MAC Contemporary Art Museum in Lissone, with the following motivation: the prize went to artist Dala Nasser for the breadth of her research on the idea of approaching abstraction as a political territory. The jury recognized her ambition to develop a work that is both tangible and poetic. The winning artist had the opportunity to enjoy a ten-day residency in Aci Castello, in the province of Catania, hosted by the Oelle Foundation, during which he or she deepened his research on the concept "Sicily, Island among Islands." The work produced by the artist during the residency in Sicily will be exhibited in a show in summer 2025.
