Naoki Ishikawa
From August 28 to September 11, 2024

From August 28 to September 11, 2024, Japanese photographer Naoki Ishikawa visited Sicily as a guest of the Oelle Mediterraneo Antico Foundation for an artist residency. A photographer and mountaineer, Ishikawa has completed extensive photographic work on Mount Etna and the Aeolian Islands, a missing stop on his long journey to the world's active volcanoes. Last year, with the conquest of Shisha Pangma (8,027 meters, China), he completed the ascent of 14 peaks above 8,000 meters worldwide. The Oelle Foundation, in agreement with the Japanese artist, has commissioned him to produce a previously unpublished work on the Sicilian volcanoes, Mount Etna and the Aeolian Islands, which will be published in a book and an exhibition. The project is produced by the Oelle Foundation and curated by Filippo Maggia.
