Phil Stern

The internationally renowned American photographer Phil Stern inaugurated the Oelle Mediterraneo Antico Foundation's artist residency program. In the summer of 2013, the renowned photographer returned to Sicily to inaugurate his solo exhibition of photographs on the island's 1943 war. At the time, Stern was a young photographer who had volunteered to document the war. Seventy years later, at 93, he returned with his family, hosted by Ornella Laneri, with whom he developed a close friendship. This friendship led to the creation of the Phil Stern Pavilion at the Ciminiere in Catania, a large exhibition space dedicated to him by the OELLE Foundation.
