Working and creating alongside one of the most illustrious exponents of Art and Nature: Alfio Bonanno. The "Volcano Etna A/R" workshop gave nine students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania the opportunity to work alongside the artist in an intense week of lessons and hands-on activities on the slopes of Mount Etna. The workshop gave students the opportunity to explore an ecological vision of art that is so dear to so many today, but above all, to discuss Etna as a cultural resource. The Sicilian-Danish artist (originally from Milo), who now considers himself a citizen of the world, held open lessons and performances for a week inside the Etna park, immersed in three days of fog. For Bonanno, this was a blessing, as it helped the students in their work of introspection. For the students, it was an excellent learning experience because it allowed them to experiment with a different approach than the academic one, deepening the connections created with the elements of nature—stones, moss, leaves, and the earth.
